The Coming Wave of Storage Finance: Taking Cues from the Success of PV

2014 saw a handful of energy storage start-ups acquire funding worth tens of millions of dollars for zero-money-down behind-the-meter storage. These financing rounds, although impressive for the industry, are orders of magnitude lower than what residential (and more recently commercial) solar has achieved since 2008. Solar financing has evolved with recent trends towards securitization, loans and other innovative tools. This panel will explore possible paths storage financing could take based on experience from solar, or in partnership with future solar ventures.
