Shayle Kann is the Managing Director of the GTM Research solar practice. He has spoken about solar PV markets in conferences around the world and been cited in publications such as The Economist, New York Times, Wall St. Journal, Forbes, Bloomberg, Reuters, Financial Times, Fast Company, and more. He has also testified in front of the U.S. House of Representatives Natural Resources Committee on the state and future of the U.S. solar market. Mr. Kann joined GTM Research upon returning from Australia, where he was a U.S. Fulbright Scholar studying renewable energy project finance during the credit crisis. Prior to this, Mr. Kann worked in the Clean Energy Markets division of Conservation Services Group, focusing on voluntary and compliance markets for renewable energy certificates. He has a Bachelor’s cum laude, phi beta kappa from Pomona College.

Shyam Mehta is a Senior Analyst at GTM Research, focusing on global solar markets. Before joining GTM Research, Shyam was a Financial Analyst at Goldman Sachs Global Investment Research where he covered equities in the alternative energy sector, primarily solar companies. Prior to Goldman, Shyam was a Research Analyst at The Brattle Group, an economic consulting firm, where his work focused on problems within the electricity industry. MJ Shiao is a Solar Analyst for GTM Research with a focus on PV inverters, electronics, thin flm PV and U.S. non-utility markets. A 5-year veteran of the solar industry, MJ has experience ranging from fabrication of crystalline silicon solar cells to PV project development. Before joining GTM Research, MJ managed and designed over 5 MW of residential and commercial PV projects with Solar Design Associates. Prior to project management, MJ consulted with the Solar Electric Power Association (SEPA) on residential solar rebate programs and with the U.S. National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) on PV experience curves by technology. MJ holds a bachelor's in electrical engineering from the University of Delaware, where he was named a National Truman Scholar. A believer in the social benefits of solar power, MJ has researched, installed and tested rural off-grid PV in India and Thailand and currently serves on the Steering Committee of SustainUS, a non-profit engaging U.S. youth in sustainable development advocacy.

As Editor of PVNews, Andrew Krulewitz surveys multiple aspects of the global solar industry. Andrew maintains a database of performance-based incentives in major markets, tracks domestic utility-scale projects in all stages of development, monitors and reports sales supply agreements between large solar companies, and produces a comprehensive monthly news digest with a focus on important developments in the industry. Andrew also orchestrates all data collection and aggregation for the quarterly SEIA/GTM Research US Solar Market Insight Reports in addition to providing in-depth analysis on the domestic solar market. He is a graduate of Colgate University.
Carolyn Campbell is a Research Associate at GTM Research, focusing on the solar market. She maintains a database of utility and commercial project development in the U.S, tracks quarterly performance metrics of manufacturers, and assists with data collection and analysis. He is the author of the groundbreaking report “The Smart Grid in 2010,” which has been downloaded more than 10,000 times.
An avid world-traveler, David has come into contact with many of our most pressing environmental and social challenges. His research, focused on the convergence of IT, telecom and energy networks, leads him to believe that a smarter future is possible if we can reinvent our collective relationship with energy. Mr. Leeds completed his degree in international business and finance at Trinity College at Oxford (U.K.) and the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University. He lives and works in New York City.

Emma Ritch is an analyst at GTM Research, focused on communications and networking technologies for the smart grid. She previously worked as senior research analyst at the Cleantech Group, a research and consulting firm, where she advised clients on technologies, trends and investments in energy efficiency in the built environment. Prior to Cleantech, Emma worked as a cleantech reporter for the Silicon Valley Business Journal, where she covered topics including energy storage, biofuels, solar, smart grid and lighting. Emma graduated from the University of South Carolina with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and studied at the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands before beginning her career as a business reporter at the Associated Press and The Sun News. Ben is a Smart Grid Analyst for GTM Research. He previously worked as research analyst for Knwldg Houston, a green energy and healthcare consulting firm, where his research primarily focused on automated metering infrastructure and smart grid regulation. Prior to Knwldg Houston Ben was a policy intern with Wexler and Walker Public Policy Associates where he performed research for energy, transportation, and defense clients. Ben graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science.

Prior to joining Greentech Media, Eric Wesoff founded Sage Marketing Partners in 2000 to provide sales and marketing-consulting services to venture-capital firms and their portfolio companies in the alternative energy and telecommunications sectors. Mr. Wesoff has become a well-known, respected authority and speaker in these fields. He also was the publisher of the Venture Power newsletter, a subscription-only newsletter covering venture-capital investment in renewable energy.
Eric's expertise covers solar power, fuel cells, biofuels and advanced batteries. His strengths are in market research and analysis, business development and due diligence for investors. He frequently consults for energy startups and Silicon Valley's premier venture capitalists.
From 1988 to 1996, Eric served as product marketing manager for Siemens Optoelectronics, where he oversaw complex product lines and managed relationships with global customers. He then became the U.S. marketing and sales manger for Akzo Nobel Photonics, which was acquired by JDS Uniphase. Eric later served as the sales director for Dicon Fiber Optics, where he was responsible for selling millions of dollars of fiber-optic telecom-equipment. Scott Clavenna has been leading high-tech market research firms for over 15 years. In his capacity as a trusted analyst and consultant, Scott has helped dozens of companies enter and succeed in complex and intensely competitive markets worldwide. In 1997, Scott co-founded Pioneer Consulting, which quickly grew into the leading market research firm covering the optical and broadband communications industry.
Prior to co-founding Greentech Media in 2007, Rick Thompson spent 15 years at leading technology start-ups, incumbent networking and communications companies, and technology media and market research firms. Most recently, Rick was senior telecom analyst at Light Reading/Heavy Reading, the dominant online media company in the telecommunications market, acquired by CMP Media in 2005. Mr. Thompson previously served as the vice president of marketing at PanGo Networks, a wireless software company, and as director of product management and marketing at Sycamore Networks Inc., where he defined the product strategy and launch of the industry's first intelligent optical switching platform. Under his leadership, Sycamore deployed several of the world's largest intelligent optical network infrastructures. Prior to joining Sycamore, Rick held similar product management positions with Packet Engines, a pioneer of Gigabit Ethernet switching that was later acquired by Alcatel, and FORE Systems, a leader in ATM networking that was later acquired by Marconi and, subsequently, Ericsson. Mr. Thompson earned a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.
