Europe Solar PV Market Outlook 2018

by Tom Heggarty

After several years of stagnation, the European solar PV market grew in 2017 and prospects look good for continued growth to 2022. We expect an average of 14 GW of solar PV to be added per year from 2018 until 2022, with 67% being installed in just six key markets. Feed-in tariffs are gradually being replaced by competitive auctioning programs as the primary means of delivering new large-scale capacity, while subsidy-free project development is gathering pace, particularly in Southern Europe.
