Podcast: The Potential of Grid-Scale Energy Storage in China

Can Western firms penetrate a growing China energy storage market, or will China become a battery export dynamo?

China is emerging as the largest, highest growth, and most attractive market for energy storage according to Azure International.

In this week's podcast, Greentech Media CEO Scott Clavenna talks with Kevin Popper, analyst at Azure International, about Azure's recent report on the market for grid-scale energy storage systems in China.

China's power grid is struggling to integrate renewables on an inflexible grid and cope with a changing load mix. But China is looking at energy storage with a focus on energy applications, as opposed to the U.S. focus on power applications such as frequency regulation.

Some of the enormous storage demonstration projects in China are discussed in today's conversation, as are the emerging market leaders and potential technology winners. Can Western energy storage companies penetrate China's domestic market?
