U.S. Wholesale DER Aggregation: Q1 2018

by Elta Kolo, Ph.D.

2017 was a particularly buzzworthy year for Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) in wholesale markets where System Operators around the U.S. began to take into consideration the implications of increasing penetration levels of these distributed resources into their power system and markets. ISOs and RTOs have commissioned studies to assess strategy, reliability impacts and the coordination between transmission and distribution throughout 2017.
