Flexible System Design Utilizing Cell-String Level PV Optimizers

PV system designers face many challenges related to available roof space. Shade objects, multiple roof planes, and other space restrictions can prevent total roof area utilization. The traditional approach is to use expensive and cumbersome module level electronics, like microinverters, or DC/DC converters. These devices improve the function of the system at a module level, but involve significant cost to acquire, install, and commission.

Cell-String Optimizers are specifically designed to eliminate the current adoption problems with MLPE. The highly granular approach to MPPT yields more energy than traditional MLPE enabled PV systems and is compatible with inverters, AFCIs, and rapid shutdown devices. This webinar will cover techniques for flexible system design using these advanced, fully integrated optimizers.

Maxim has partnered with Aurora to bring designers a leading software tool. Aurora’s system models the performance of optimized modules and provides shading analysis, financial analysis and engineering design for residential and commercial systems. In this webinar, we’ll demo Aurora’s sub-module performance simulation engine for calculating energy output at the cell-string level.
