Robert “Hutch” Hutchinson
Robert “Hutch” Hutchinson
Managing Director, Rocky Mountain Institute

Robert "Hutch" Hutchinson is a managing director for the research and consulting activities at RMI. He works across all RMI programmatic areas, with a special emphasis on the built environment and transportation.

Prior to RMI, Robert started up Pronghorn Ventures, a "cleantech" venture fund centered on the Rocky Mountain Area. Previously, he spent almost 20 years with the Boston Consulting Group, holding leadership roles in the energy, industrial, and high-tech practices over the years.  He spent about half of his BCG career overseas, especially in Latin America and Australasia, and helped start up several of BCG's offices and practices.

Before working at BCG Robert was a research engineer and program manager at the DOE's Pacific Northwest Laboratory, focusing on energy conservation and renewable technology development.

Janice Berman

Senior Director of Customer Energy Efficiency Strategy, Pacific Gas and Electric Company

Janice Berman is the Senior Director of Customer Energy Efficiency Strategy and Market Development.  Ms. Berman is responsible for providing strategic leadership of PG&E’s Customer Energy Efficiency portfolio.

Prior to her current position, Ms. Berman has held numerous regulatory, financial and operational positions at PG&E, including Director of Customer Generation, Director of Rates and Tariffs, Director of Revenue Requirements, Director of Business Development, and Director of Gas System Operations. 

Ms. Berman earned a Bachelors degree in Mathematics from Whitman College, and has a Masters degree in Operations Research from Stanford University and an MBA from the Haas School of Business at U.C. Berkeley.  She joined PG&E in 1987 as an engineer working on the development of new power plants, and quickly became interested in integrating resource planning for power plants, demand-side resources, and T&D.

Dave Canny
Dave Canny
Manager, Residential Energy Efficiency Programs, Pacific Gas and Electric Company

Dave Canny is Manager of Residential Energy Efficiency Programs at Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E).  His team is responsible for design, implementation and administration of award winning energy efficiency and integrated demand side solutions for customers in PG&E’s service territory in Northern and Central California.  PG&E’s Residential Energy Efficiency Portfolio includes whole house retrofits, a highly successful cooperative clothes washer offering with water agencies, strategic retail engagements, residential new construction incentives and design assistance, multifamily rebates, and behavior programs.  His team works closely with the market to understand barriers to energy efficiency and how utility programs can best serve customers and enable them to make smart energy choices and manage their energy use.  He serves on the board of Home Energy and TopTen USA.

Prior to joining PG&E, Dave worked with the National Ocean Service to develop a national network of Marine Protected Areas and is an avid SCUBA diver and photographer.

Dave received his Masters of Environmental Policy and Management from Duke University and his BA from Dartmouth College.

Mary Curtiss

National Director of Energy & Sustainability Services, Jones Lang LaSalle

Mary Curtiss, LEED AP, is National Director of Energy & Sustainability Services (ESS) for Jones Lang LaSalle and an authority on sustainability in the facilities industry. She leads a team of ESS professionals that develops products and services for JLL clients. Before assuming this leadership role, Curtiss served on the JLL team that assisted the Moscone Convention Center with LEED Certification and energy management retrofit. In addition, she managed a global sustainability program for Sun Microsystems’ real estate portfolio that led to more than $1 million in savings. She has managed multiple LEED EB Certification project for such JLL clients as Intel. Curtiss holds an MBA from Santa Clara University and a BS degree in industrial engineering from Iowa State University. She is a member of the US Green Building Council and Society of Women Engineers.
