The smart fortwo electric drive vehicle will be hitting the streets of five select regions later this fall, but Greentech Media got a good look at what the most eco-savvy amongst us (OK, more like a handful of corporations and about 50 individuals) may soon be driving. Because the smart car is often already a second, third or even fourth car for most of its owners, Mark Langenbrinck, managing director for smart, said that it is the perfect vehicle to help consumers make the move from gas to electric. However, 80 percent of the 250 units sold this fall will go to corporations, which Langenbrinck said they like because, "it's a rolling statement on environmental awareness and oil independence."
