Greentech Media is pleased to confirm that NBA legend and NRG Home Solar spokesperson Bill Walton will speak at the 4th annual U.S. Solar Market Insight conference, taking place December 8-10, 2014 in San Diego, Calif. Walton will participate in a fireside chat with Greentech Media’s Editor-in-Chief Eric Wesoff on December 10, Day 2 of the conference.

Bill Walton is a two-time NBA champion, two-time NBA All-Star, and NBA Hall of Fame inductee. He has been named as one of the 50 greatest NBA players of all time. More recently, Walton has worked as a successful NBA commentator for ABC, NBC and ESPN. He has been named one of the top 50 sports broadcasters of all time by the American Sportscasters Association. Today, Walton is also the voice for NRG Home Solar, one of the country’s leading residential solar providers.

Wesoff recently spoke with Walton about his role at NRG Home Solar. Walton described solar as being good personal economics, good public policy, and a way of "democratizing innovation," as well as being just "common sense" that "allows us to be kind to Mother Earth." Walton is earnest about his role, stating, "My opportunity, my purpose is to help spread a message of hope." He adds, "We get beat down, feeling we don't have any say. Home solar allows us to be in the game."

"We have a responsibility to the next generation," said Walton -- and with the kind of "science and economics backing solar -- it's the biggest no-brainer in the history of the world."  (Click here to read the full article featuring Walton’s interview.)

Bill Walton will join an all-star roster of speakers at Greentech Media’s U.S. Solar Market Insight conference, including representatives from SolarCity, Tesla Motors, SunEdison, Arizona Public Service, First Solar, AES Energy Storage, San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E), SunPower, and Sunrun. Now in its fourth year, the U.S. Solar Market Insight conference is essential for anyone involved, or looking to get involved, in the U.S. solar industry. Based on more than five years of analysis of installation data, the event dissects cost trends, discusses the future of project finance and business models, and examines the potential of individual states and market segments. It is the only event exclusively underpinned by the Solar Market Insight report series produced by GTM Research and the Solar Energy Industries Association.
