Springer Electric Cooperative’s 1.3 MW solar plant will provide clean energy to local customers

Albuquerque, NM – May 27, 2015 -- Array Technologies, Inc. (ATI), the global standard for single-axis trackers, has commissioned a 1.3 MWdc solar plant for the Springer Electric Cooperative located in northern New Mexico.

ATI recently announced the launch of its revolutionary single-axis tracking system, the DuraTrack HZ v3, which is showcased at this solar plant. The unique patent-pending tracking system provides the highest project value to Springer Electric by minimizing upfront and lifetime costs, as well as maximizing production uptime through high reliability. Innovative v3 product features enable the lowest levelized cost of electricity, including a passive wind mitigation and self-calibration system that eliminates the need for active stow, effectively increasing survivability and reducing unexpected maintenance.

“Partnering with forward thinking organizations is vitally important to us as an industry leader in order to expand the penetration of solar energy to communities across the country,” ATI founder and CEO, Ron Corio, said. “Springer Electric Cooperative has proven to be a group focused on delivering sustainable and reliable electricity to its customers for years to come.”

“Springer Electric Cooperative is extremely pleased to be able to bring this project online to provide clean, reliable, and sustainable power to our members and owners and be able to work with such innovative companies as ATI” David Spradlin, Springer’s CEO, said. “We are also excited to be the first to deploy ATI’s new tracking system which we feel not only puts Springer on the front line for new technologies in solar power production but also supports a New Mexico based company and New Mexico jobs.”

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on May 26th to celebrate the solar plant’s official interconnection to the electricity grid.
