KANSAS CITY, MO (DATE) – The Electric Utility Industry Sustainable Supply Chain Alliance (Alliance) announced today it will hold its signature event September 24-25, 2014 at the Orlando World Center Marriott in Orlando, FL. The theme is “Powering Business Value Through Sustainability.” The event follows the UPMG conference at the same location.

Sustainability, supply chain and environmental staff attending will:

1. Learn how to Increase Business Value. Keynote speakers are Terry Yosie, President and CEO World Environment Center and Michael Muyot, President and Founder, CRD Analytics. These two speakers will present perspectives on the business value of sustainability, approaches to improving performance, and the key trends which are making sustainability a critical aspect of performance for companies today and into the future.

2. Learn how to stay on top of sustainability using the Alliance’s “Sustainability Framework” developed by the Alliance for utilities and suppliers. These Framework documents help gauge the level of maturity of sustainability management programs and provide guidance on what can be done to increase the business value and benefits of sustainability within utility companies.

3. Become educated on the value of implementing newly released successful practices. The Alliance’s working groups produced documents offering voluntary standards for sustainable supply chain practices development and improvement. Documents include “Wood Poles Best Practices”, “Distribution Transformers Best Practices” and “Wire and Cable Best Practices”. There will also be sessions led by utilities and suppliers sharing business successes with specific Supply Chain sustainability programs which will provide valuable information. A session on the Annual Supplier Survey will report key findings from the 2013 results and the key factors members pay attention to when evaluating their supply base.

4. Gain Valuable Opportunities to connect with supply chain and environmental leaders! The networking opportunities are unparalleled. At the Alliance’s last event, almost half of attendees were serving as either the CEO or Vice President of their companies.

The Alliance invites everyone interested to take the next step to becoming a sustainability leader and sign up for the Signature Event today! Early registration costs are available through August 14.

BONUS SESSION: A hands-on session prior to registration on Wednesday, Sept. 24 will provide utilities and suppliers specific education and training for the 2014 Supplier Survey.
