FRANKFURT, Germany -- It's not nearly as metrosexual as the Volkswagen Cabriolet.

To commemorate its 50th year, Mini (owned by BMW since 2001) showed off two new models coming to market next year: the Mini Coupe and the Mini Concept. The two-seater sports cars will come with 1.6 liter engines and feature that "go-kart" feel that the Mini has become known for, said Ian Robertson, who heads up Mini.

BMW has sold 1.5 million Minis since it took over the brand, he added. The biggest market is the U.S. where it will soon expand to over 100 dealers. The electric version of the Mini, which began to undergo consumer testing in the U.S. earlier this year, will launch tests in Britain soon and France next year. The tests last for about a year. The company also had some versions of the Mini dating back to 1959 (pictures in a later post.)

The video gives you some idea of the sort of mob scenes that car shows engender.
