Senior Manager, Demand Response Solutions, Schneider Electric
One their way to the ground, 72% of the world’s electrons pass through something Schneider Electric makes. AsSenior Manager of Schneider’s Smart Grid Solutions CenterPhil Davis develops strategies for coordinating and integrating demand side grid events with the traditional supply side resources of the energy business. The emergence of PEV’s will increase grid challenges, but Davis believes they also present a generational opportunity. Electric vehicle growth will focus public mindshare on the grid as few other applications can. In turn, grid owners can use this spotlight to make their cases for the smart grid of the future.
Grid demand management will take on critical importance as these “rolling central air conditioners” move about their communities presenting new revenue potential to any site with a charger, but reliability must remain the key focus. In Schneider’s Smart Grid unit, Phil has the personal challenge of developing grid network management strategies that coordinate end user activities with the demands of large scale grid operations. He believes that PEV’s can serve a unifying role in educating all classes of customers about the factors in grid reliability and sustainability.
Prior to joining Schneider Electric via an acquisition, he was Chief Operating Officer for RETX Energy Services, a pioneer of Demand Response, and has engaged in similar activities for over thirty years. Trained in Economics, Mr. Davis has an extensive professional background in applying efficient energy strategies to support disparate management goals. Among his recent credits is the design and installation of a groundbreaking “intelligent building system” at Rockefeller Center in New York.
Phil is a recognized authority on energy infrastructure support systems and the human interactions that define them. With a rare career combination in Sales, IT, Finance, Marketing, and Operations, he has developed an empathetic ear for customer perspectives and makes it a point of pride to provide good value for the investments those customers make.

Founder California Car Initiative
Felix Kramer is a serial entrepreneur and lifelong environmentalist focusing on innovative technology-related ideas, events and businesses.
In 2002, he enlisted engineers, entrepreneurs, environmentalists and drivers to promote plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) by technology demonstrations, advocacy and buyer demand. In 2006, he became the world's first non-technical consumer owner of a PHEV. He popularized the "100+MPG" goal and "cleaner/cheaper/domestic" to describe electricity's benefits. In late 2009, while noting much remained to be done, CalCars "declared victory" on plug-ins. Thomas Friedman, in his best-seller, Hot Flat and Crowded, said, "Felix Kramer has made plug-in electric cars not only his passion but an imminent American reality." He took delivery of the ninth Chevy Volt GM sold, and in 2011, his family became the world's first household with both a Volt and a Nissan Leaf.
With allies including Andy Grove, Kramer is forging a technical, business and government coalition to spark a new industry to turn millions of large internal combustion engine vehicles now on the road into safe, practical, EVs and PHEVs via carmaker-sanctioned retrofits.
In 2008 he began advising several transportation electrification and conversion startups.
A graduate of Cornell University, Kramer lives with his wife in Silicon Valley.
