  • Gary Hirshberg

    CE-Yo, Stonyfield Farm

    Gary Hirshberg, the husband of Meg Hirshberg and the father of three teenage yogurt-eaters, is Chairman, President and CE-Yo of Stonyfield Farm, the world's leading organic yogurt producer, based in Londonderry, New Hampshire.

    For the past 25 years, Gary has overseen Stonyfield Farm's phenomenal growth, from its infancy as a 7-cow organic farming school in 1983 to its current $260 million in annual sales. Stonyfield has enjoyed a compounded annual growth rate of 27.4% for more than eighteen years, by consistently producing a great-tasting product and using innovative marketing techniques that blend the company's social, environmental, and financial missions.

    In 2001, Stonyfield Farm entered into a partnership with Groupe Danone, and in 2005, Gary was named Managing Director of Stonyfield Europe, a joint venture between the two firms with brands in Ireland, the UK and France with more in development.

    Gary joined Stonyfield Farm a few months after its start in 1983. Initially he also directed the Rural Education Center, the small organic farming school from which Stonyfield was spawned. Previously, in addition to serving as a Trustee of the farming school Gary had served as Executive Director of The New Alchemy Institute – a research and education center dedicated to organic farming, aquaculture and renewable energy.

    A New Hampshire native, Gary was one of the first graduates of Hampshire College in Amherst, MA, has received four honorary doctorates and won numerous awards for corporate and environmental leadership. He serves on several corporate and non-profit boards including Honest Tea, Sambazon, Peak Organic Brewing Company, Dannon Company, and Climate Counts. He is also the Chairman and co-founder of O'Naturals, a chain of natural fast food restaurants. In his spare time, he also serves as the President of the Express Soccer Club and he coaches a girls' under-15 premier travel soccer team, which keeps him humble and certain that he still has much to learn.

  • David Walker

    Director of Environmental Sustainability, PepsiCo International

    David Walker, Director of Environmental Sustainability, is a 25 year veteran of PepsiCo, serving in both North American and International Operations. In his current role, Mr. Walker is responsible for Environmental  Sustainability for International Food and Beverage Operations in PepsiCo.

    Mr. Walker manages several programs for PepsiCo and PepsiCo International. These programs include: ReCon, a site-level Resource Conservation Capability Building Tool; PepsiCo Partnership with Columbia University Earth Institute, including the Carbon Footprint and Reduction Project; Global Metrics, the International Metric Program for PepsiCo; Sustainable Engineering, Guidelines to support Green Building Design.

    Mr. Walker holds BS and MS degrees from Texas Tech University and resides in Stamford, CT.

  • Cynthia Cummis

    Project Manager, Supply Chain Initiative, World Resource Institute and GHG Protocol Initiative

    Cynthia Cummis joins the GHG Protocol team at WRI as Senior Associate and project manager of the Product and Supply Chain Initiative. Cynthia is not new to the GHG Protocol Initiative having been closely involved in the development of the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard as a US EPA representative on the Editorial Committee for the first version and a member of the Revision Working Group for the revised edition. Cynthia comes from Clear Carbon Consulting where she was Director of Carbon Management, managing carbon quantification and GHG management projects for multiple Fortune 500 clients. She brings more than 12 years of experience working on the issue of global climate change. Cynthia was the founding Director of U.S. EPA's Climate Leaders program, where for more than 5 years she led the design and implementation of the program and oversaw its' growth to more than 90 corporate partners. She is currently also a faculty member of the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute instructing a course on the basics of GHG accounting.

  • Dave Crowley

    Director of Environmental Health & Safety HP Hood LLC

    David Crowley, CSP, CET, CHMM serves as the Senior Director of Environmental Health & Safety for HP Hood LLC where he has worked for the past nine years. David is a participating member of the Environmental Worker Safety Committee with the International Dairy Foods Association. He is a member of the Dairy Management Inc. Carbon Council work group and serves as a “co-captain” on the Innovation Center for US Dairy sustainability project known as E-SMART.

    Dave has an AS in Science from New England Institute in Boston and a BS in Toxicology from Northeastern University in Boston. He has a total of 24 years experience as an EHS professional and holds credentials as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), a Certified Environmental Trainer (CET) and a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM). He is an active member with the National Safety Council Food & Beverage Section and is a past member of the Board of Directors for the Massachusetts Safety Council and past member of the Board of Directors for the New England Academy of Certified Hazardous Materials Managers. He is a 20 year member of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) and is Past President for ASSE’s Greater Boston Chapter and he currently serves as the Assistance Vice President of Communications for ASSE Region VIII.

  • Dr. Matthew Gardner

    Director, SustainServ

    Dr. Matthew Gardner applies his background in environmental research, technology, and education to a variety of engagements, including organizational development efforts, real estate projects, sustainability assessments, and education and communication projects. In his work he employs a multidisciplinary approach that couples technical, quantitative expertise with a commitment to clear and concise communication. He has a Ph.D. in Chemistry, and spent ten years in environmental research and education at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

  • Chrystina Gastelum

    US Account Manager, CDP Supply Chain Project

    Chrystina manages CDP's Supply Chain program in the United States. Her role includes providing support to current members, developing new business, and ensuring CDP Supply Chain is at the forefront of thinking on carbon in the supply chain. Before joining CDP, Chrystina worked in the sustainable investing field filling a diverse range of roles including investment research, data management, and product development at KLD Research & Analytics, as well as marketing at Domini Social Investments. She holds a BA in Anthropology from Boston University.

  • Lawrence Goldenhersh

    CEO, Enviance

    Mr. Goldenhersh blends the entrepreneurial experience of founding and managing Enviance with a successful 15-year career in the practice of law with one of the nation’s most prestigious law firms.  Mr. Goldenhersh founded Enviance in 1999 to drive a sea change in compliance management by leveraging the revolutionary power of the Internet.  As CEO, Mr. Goldenhersh is responsible for the strategic and operational management of the company. Today, the Enviance System, built by environmental, health and safety (EHS) compliance experts, is deployed in 45 countries at over 3000 facilities, and is relied upon by major utility, oil and gas, energy, chemical and general manufacturing companies, as well as the federal government, to manage greenhouse gas and EHS compliance over the Internet.

    Prior to founding Enviance, Mr. Goldenhersh was a partner at Irell & Manella, a Los Angeles firm of more than 150 lawyers.  Mr. Goldenhersh holds a bachelors degree from Duke University and a law degree from the University of Virginia.

  • Richard Goode

    Head of Climate Change Programs, Alcatel-Lucent

    Richard Goode is the Head of Climate Change Programs at Alcatel-Lucent. In this role Richard will lead the company's efforts in setting CO2 emissions targets, and creating and implementing climate change programs across all Alcatel-Lucent operations. In addition, Richard will work to integrate Climate Change issues into the planning, business processes and decision making steps of the company.

    Prior to this position, Rich was the leader of North American multiplexer product management where he was responsible for growing the embedded base of Alcatel-Lucent optical communications portfolio with the company’s largest customers. Prior to Alcatel-Lucent Richard held positions with Bay Networks, Teradyne and GTE. Rich is also the founder of the Boston-area Sustainability Group.

    Rich holds a B.S. in management from the University of Massachusetts, an M.B.A. from Nichols College and is a graduate of Presidio School of Management's Executive Program in Sustainable Management.

  • Timothy Greiner

    Partner, Pure Strategies

    Timothy Greiner, a Pure Strategies partner, specializes in building environmental and social integrity into products, brands, and businesses. Tim's experience includes developing sustainability strategies for Stonyfield Farm, Seventh Generation, Dell and other leading green businesses. With more than 300 audits at manufacturing plants to his credit, Tim has more than 15 years of experience developing and implementing sustainability strategies. Projects range from supply chain alignment and enterprise carbon accounting to product scorecards, life cycle analysis, and corporate level sustainability reports.

    Tim holds a bachelor's degree in Materials Science Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and masters degrees in Environmental Policy and Business from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Mr. Greiner is a founding member of the Massachusetts Toxics Use Reduction Planners Association and a former Board member and President. He is also founder of the Cape Ann Climate Change Network and is a Research Associate at the Lowell Center for Sustainable Production. He also worked for the Massachusetts Office of Technical Assistance as Project Director and Chief Engineer.

  • Eric Klein

    Eric Klein is a market research and consulting professional specializing in the design, analysis, and delivery of project-based research.  Over the past 15 years, Eric has worked with a wide array of firms across a number of industries, leading qualitative and quantitative research in areas such as innovation in enterprise software, supply chain risk management, manufacturing operations/automation, and IT spending research.

    Prior to working with Greentech Media Research, Eric worked  in a variety of market research and management roles, providing market data and competitive intelligence to Fortune 500 firms.  His previous employers include: AMR Research, The Yankee Group, and Affiliated Computer Systems (ACS).

    Eric holds a Bachelor's degree in Finance from Boston University.

  • Bob Klimko

    Director of Marketing, ORBIS

    Bob Klimko is the current Director of Marketing for ORBIS. In 2008, Orbis acquired Norseman Plastics provider of reusable packaging for the multiple industries to include beverage, bakery, food perishables, food dry goods to name a few. Mr. Klimko previous worked for Wilbert Plastics and TriEnda.

    These roles provided tremendous exposure to multiple industries in the reusable packaging market in both the industrial/assembly manufacturing industries as well as the perishable foods business (meat, poultry, produce, floral). His former association leadership roles included Vice Chair of the Material Handling Industry of America's Reusable Plastic Container & Pallet Association, and co-chair of the Council of Logistics Management Reverse Logistics Committee.

    Mr. Klimko has an undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point and an MBA in marketing and personnel management from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

    Dan Kreeger is a co-founder and executive director of the Association of Climate Change Officers (ACCO). ACCO is a membership organization and professional society whose mission is to advance the professional knowledge, skills and experience of those dedicated to managing and implementing response to challenges and opportunities relating to climate change and energy issues. While leading ACCO, Dan has created a forum that enables the exchange and enhancement of best practices, industry standards, and innovation in the area of greenhouse gas management, and has focused intently on educating industry and government on the importance of employing qualified professionals, developing sound organizational structures, change management programs and establishing incentives to encourage innovation and successful response to climate change considerations.

    Dan is an accomplished business professional with cross-functional experience in business development, marketing, public relations, public affairs, research and consulting within business-to-business, government, and consumer-centric sectors. His background includes the launch of the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS), issues and crisis management on behalf of trade groups, corporations and government, and strategic business planning and counseling for numerous organizations. He has significant experience working on the business impacts of climate change, renewable energy and related environmental issues and is a frequent writer and speaker on these topics.

    Gwen Ruta directs Environmental Defense Fund's Corporate Partnerships program. She spearheads its work with leading multinational companies to develop innovative, business-based solutions to environmental challenges and to drive change through the corporate value chain. Ranked #1 among environmental organizations for credible and effective partnerships by the Financial Times, EDF has kicked off transformations in market sectors from catalogs to shipping to retail to food service. Prior to joining Environmental Defense Fund, Gwen was Vice President at Metcalf & Eddy, an international environmental engineering firm. She has also held senior management positions at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. Gwen earned an M.P.A. at Harvard University School of Government and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering at University of Virginia.

    James (Jamie) is the Vice President, Strategy and Research of the environmental data firm Trucost. Trucost provides data and analysis on company emissions and natural resource usage and presents these in financial as well as quantity terms, providing the basis for an improved dialogue between companies, investors and other stakeholders.

    At Trucost, James has been the research lead in a number of large client and public environmental research projects for Trucost including the Carbon Counts Asia 2007 report released at Bali, produced for the International Finance Corporation (IFC) which examined the carbon footprints of over 90 mutual funds and the MSCI Asia ex-Japan index. James earned DPhil from Oxford University from the Oxford University Centre of the Environment (OUCE).

  • Denise Sheehan

    Vice President for Government and Regional Affairs, The Climate Registry

    In her role as Vice President, Denise oversees the Registry's regional operations, works with states and provinces and companies to assist them in inventorying and reducing their emissions. She also works as a liaison to the federal government, including U.S. EPA and members of Congress.

    Denise has over 20 years of experience in government having served in various capacities. Her experience includes nine years with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, including two years as Commissioner. As Commissioner of DEC, Denise represented New York State in the negotiations to create the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI). She also spearheaded efforts to preserve one million acres of open space and implemented new programs to improve the state's air and water quality and revitalize brownfields. Denise also has several years experience in public budgeting and finance and local planning and economic development.

    Denise holds a Master of Public Administration degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Political Science from the State University of New York. She is also the recipient of the Distinguished Alumna Award in Public Administration and Policy from the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy at the University at Albany.

  • James Sullivan

    Former Director, U.S. EPA Climate Leaders Program Vice President of Advisory Services, Clear Standards

    James (Jim) Sullivan brings over 16 years of experience to his role as Vice President of Advisory Services at Clear Standards, where he works directly with clients, partners, and analysts to drive the benefits of technology to better manage carbon across business operations. Mr. Sullivan is the former Director of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Climate Leaders, a program that partners with over 200 businesses whose revenues represent 10% of the U.S. GDP, to develop comprehensive carbon management strategies. Mr. Sullivan's previous work at EPA included developing and analyzing performance metrics for U.S. climate programs, and serving as an expert reviewer of the European Union's climate policy under the UNFCCC. Mr. Sullivan represents Clear Standards on the technical committee of the WRI GHG Protocol Product/Supply Chain initiative. A frequent speaker at environmental and climate change related events, Mr. Sullivan is a strong advocate of industry efforts to implement meaningful, verifiable energy efficiency and carbon reduction programs. Prior to his service at EPA, Mr. Sullivan worked at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher, & Flom as an environmental client specialist focusing on environmental litigation, corporate due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, and environmental permitting & regulatory issues for a variety of Fortune 500 clients. Mr. Sullivan is a graduate of Brown University and holds a Masters of Science in Environmental Science and Policy from Johns Hopkins University.

    Terry is an Internet and environmental entrepreneur and a pioneer in customer experience strategy and design. In 2005, she founded and served as CEO of The Beam and GreenBuildingBlocks.com, a Web 2.0 marketplace for consumers, manufacturers, and green building professionals to power the demand for clean and green products and services. In 2002, Terry served as a founding management team member of network security software company StillSecure. Co-leading the product teams, they brought three best-of-breed products to market in 18 months. Her first company TSDesign, an Internet strategy and product design firm, was acquired in 1999 by Razorfish, a global digital services provider.

  • Wood Turner

    Executive Director, Climate Counts

    Wood Turner is the executive director of Climate Counts, a non-profit initiative spearheaded by Stonyfield Farm that scores companies annually on their commitment to addressing climate change in meaningful, measurable ways. Wood has led a range of public and private brand-building and community-based social marketing efforts, among them Flexcar, Intel, the Seattle Monorail Project, the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency, and King County (WA) Metro. As senior account strategist with a Seattle advertising and strategic communications agency, he consulted the Seattle Mayor's Green Ribbon Commission on Climate Protection, an extension of the city's leadership on the US Mayors Climate Protection Agreement.

    Wood was integral to the team that developed Urban Ecology's "Blueprint for a Sustainable Bay Area," a leading-edge vision presenting actionable ways for non-activists to live with purpose. He also built an e-magazine teaching international audiences about constructive innovations by businesses, organizations, and individuals.

    Wood holds a bachelor's degree in English from Duke University and a master's degree in urban and environmental planning from the University of Washington. He sat on the board of the Washington Toxics Coalition, which spearheaded that state's groundbreaking toxic toys legislation. He also participates in the transportation and land use working group of the New Hampshire governor's Climate Change Task Force and the Standards Advisory Council for B Corporation.

  • Glen West

    General Manager of Green Solutions, Celestica, Inc.

    Glen is currently the General Manager of Green Solutions for Celestica, Inc. where he is responsible for creating solutions for Celestica’s customers to help them develop, deliver and support greener electronic products across several market segments. At Celestica, he was previously the Director, Market Development, Enterprise Computing where he developed growth strategies for the multi-billion dollar business unit and the Director, Market Development, Consumer Electronics where he created the strategy to enter the consumer electronics industry. Prior to that, he held various business development and marketing positions at Sanmina-SCI Systems and SCI Systems Inc. Early in his career, Glen was a Senior Scientist with Computer Sciences Corporation where he managed proposal and software development teams and developed computer modeling and simulation tools.

    Glen holds an MBA from The University of Alabama, an MS in Computer Science from The University of Alabama in Huntsville and a BS in Computer Science from The University of Michigan.

  • Paul Baier

    VP Consulting, Groom Energy

    Paul Baier leads Groom Energy's Climate Consulting practice, which assists Groom Energy's customers with their sustainability strategies  and GHG inventories. Paul recently co-published Groom's research report titled "Enterprise Carbon Accounting" and authors a sustainability blog.

    Paul has been active with the emerging national organizations focused on GHG emissions and climate impact, representing Groom Energy at associations such EPA Climate Leaders, The Climate Registry, Carbon Disclosure Project and the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative.

    Prior to his current role with Groom Energy, Paul held multiple senior executive roles with enterprise software service and management consulting firms such as Authoria, Open Market, AOL and Deloitte Consulting. Mr. Baier earned his MBA from Harvard Business School and his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Kenyon College.

Before creating Heavy Reading, Scott founded PointEast Research, providing strategic consulting and market intelligence to a broad mix of startups, venture capitalists and major suppliers in the communications/IT industry, and worked as director of research for Light Reading. In 1997, Scott co-founded Pioneer Consulting, which quickly grew into the leading market research firm covering the optical and broadband communications industry.
