Senior Director - EHS, SEMI
Aaron Zude is the Senior Director of the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Division at SEMI. His role is to coordinate SEMI's global environmental health and safety activities by working in conjunction with regional offices to effectively deliver benefits to members related to EHS issue advocacy; committee management; program development; internal and external communication and integration of EHS activity with the member segments that SEMI serves.
Aaron has over 27 years of EHS experience, including 18 years in the semiconductor and high technology industries, assessing environmental, health and safety programs and practices and establishing corporate risk reduction strategies. He served 6 years on the Board of Directors for the Semiconductor Environmental, Safety & Health Association (SESHA) where he served as Secretary, Treasurer and President. He was inducted as SESHA Fellow in 2001. Aaron also served 5 years on the SEMATECH EH&S Focus Technical Advisory Board (FTAB) and 12 years on Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) EH&S and Fabs Committees. Before joining SEMI in 2008, Aaron was the owner and principle consultant of Facilities & Safety Solutions, an EHS consulting services firm. Prior to that, he held various EHS, Safety and Facilities positions at Asyst Technologies, Cirrus Logic, National Semiconductor Company and Varian Associates.
Aaron holds a Masters of Science in Occupational Safety and Health from the University of Southern California (USC) and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology from California State University Los Angeles.

Abe's interest in startups began after spending a summer at a venture-backed diagnostics company as a business development intern. He subsequently joined Analysis Group, an economic and management consultancy. Abe then joined RockPort as an Associate, having previously interned at RockPort for a summer, and is active in all aspects of RockPort's activities. He has worked on deal teams for investments in solar, water, transportation, green buildings, the smart grid, efficiency, wind, lighting, and advanced materials, among other sectors. Alyssa Farrell has responsibility for SAS' Sustainability Solutions and works with SAS customers around the world to understand best practices and solutions for managing their business with environmental responsibility in mind. She participates in environmental industry groups and supports the SAS Executive Sustainability Council, the leadership team that governs SAS' sustainable business practices. Farrell regularly speaks with trade associations, analysts and the press about the opportunities organizations have to effectively manage a sustainable strategy and drive healthy economic growth.
Prior to joining SAS, Farrell was a senior consultant in the Deloitte Public Sector practice. She is a graduate of the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona, where she earned her MBA degree with a concentration in Management Information Systems. Brad Sparks is a Director with KPMG International and a member of KPMG's Global Sustainability Services practice. He is responsible for the firm's internal climate change strategy, which established commitments for KPMG to measure, report, and reduce its global carbon footprint. Brad works with all KPMG member firms to establish greenhouse gas reporting protocols and to verify the data reported. Prior to Brad's current position, he served as a member of the Forensic practice of KPMG LLP, assisting clients with corporate responsibility initiatives such as sustainability reporting, supply chain integrity and codes of conduct.
Brad received a Masters of Business Administration, with a focus in Sustainable Enterprise from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, in 2004. Bruce Klafter is Sr. Director, Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) for Applied Materials, Inc. in Santa Clara, California. Bruce also serves as Head, Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability for the company. Bruce heads up Applied's EHS department, which is responsible for assisting business units worldwide with compliance, industrial hygiene, product safety and various strategic initiatives. The Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability role encompasses a wide variety of reporting, employee engagement and other projects aimed at enhancing Applied's global citizenship programs. Before assuming his current role, Bruce was EHS counsel for the Company. Prior to joining Applied in August, 2000, Bruce was Chair of the Environmental Group at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP (a top 100 U.S. law firm) in San Francisco. Bruce began his career in 1980 as a Deputy Attorney General for the State of California.
Bruce is a past Chair of the Association of Corporate Counsel America's (ACC-A) national Environmental Committee as well as a past chair of the State Bar of California's Environmental Law Section and the Bar Association of San Francisco's Environmental Committee. Bruce presently serves as an Advisory Council member for Sustainable Silicon Valley and for Next Ten's Green Innovation Index.
Bruce received his JD from the University of California-Davis School of Law in 1980 and served as an Editor of the UC-Davis Law Journal and as Editor of Environs (a publication of the Environmental Law Society). He earned a B.S. magna cum laude in Urban and Environmental Planning (interdisciplinary) from Tufts University in 1976.

Elise Zoli, chair of Goodwin Procter's Energy Practice, specializes in the areas of energy, environmental and development law.
Ms. Zoli has extensive experience with energy projects and facilities, particularly in the renewable and nuclear sectors. Recent examples of Ms. Zoli's energy work include strategic development and acquisition advice, compliance counseling and litigation services on behalf of nuclear-powered, solar and wind-turbine electric-generating stations, as well as strategic counseling for leading players in the carbon and renewable energy credit ("REC") trading initiatives.
In conjunction with her transactional work, Ms. Zoli also has pioneered the use of novel insurance coverage. Her insurance work includes development of the State-subsidized environmental-insurance program developed in conjunction with the Massachusetts Brownfields Redevelopment coverage with in excess of $1.0 billion in force limits.
Ms. Zoli has considerable experience in energy-related litigation, including in the defense of governmental and citizen-suit enforcement actions under the major federal environmental acts. Recent examples of her work include the strategic defense of power-production facilities facing scrutiny of their cooling water intake structures under Section 316(b) of the Clean Water Act, the defense of the "Big Dig" project, and actions implicating radiological contaminants.
Ms. Zoli also has done extensive work on the assessment and permitting of redevelopment projects involving complex sites, including former nuclear assets. Her recent representations include the redevelopment of a former Army arsenal (and Superfund site) and a large-scale former municipal landfill, as well as the permitting associated with major metropolitan commercial-development projects. Ms Zoli earned. J.D. from University of Pennsylvania Law School and a B.A. from Duke University.

Emma Stewart, Ph.D., is currently the Senior Program Lead of Autodesk's Sustainable Business & Operations program. In this role, she leads the design software company's efforts to optimize its environmental footprint and model sustainability best practices to its 9 million architect, engineer, manufacturing, and construction customers.
Prior to that, she founded and directed the Environmental R&D Division at Business for Social Responsibility, where her team designed corporate initiatives to analyze and adapt to 'horizon' issues such as payments for ecosystem services, water footprinting, carbon offsets and trading, climate lobbying, and sustainable product design.
Emma is a regularly featured columnist for Harvard Business Leading Green, Environmental Leader, and ClimateBiz and her work has been covered by the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Financial Times, Global Finance, The International Herald Tribune, and Fast Company, among others. In 2007, she was named a Next Generation Fellow by the American Assembly and in 2005, she received the Bernard Siegel Award for Outstanding Research and Publication. She sits on the Green Technology Steering Committee of the World Economic Forum and is a member of the Board of ODC/San Francisco.

Mark Small is vice president of Sony Electronics, Corporate Environment, Safety and Health. He is responsible for Sony's environment, safety and health programs in the western hemisphere.
Small has been with Sony Electronics for approximately 15 years and has held several positions, including director of Corporate Environmental Affairs and manager of Corporate Environmental Affairs. He established the Corporate Environmental Affairs Department when he came to Sony in 1992, later expanding that effort to include Sony's safety and health efforts. Under his direction Sony implemented resource management and product stewardship programs including its Sony Take Back Recycling program and design for the environment activities. He is an officer in Sony's Global Environmental Management Program which includes ISO 14000 certification, increased risk management and a comprehensive audit program developed around global corporate standards and goals.
Small is among the foremost experts in the understanding of environmental affairs and safety. Before joining Sony, he served as manager of environmental affairs for National Semiconductor. He has held a variety of positions related to environmental field including manager of Environment Safety at Titanium Metals, program manager at Midwest Research Institute, research assistant and technology assistant at University of Maryland and staff member at the Nuclear Reactor Division, Bureau of Standards.
Small earned his bachelor's degree from the City College of New York in 1974 and Ph.D. from University of Maryland in 1979.

Pankaj Bhatia is a Senior Associate and director of the GHG Protocol Initiative at the World Resources Institute. Tymon Lodder has a strong background in environmental cost benefit analysis, regulatory compliance and strategy development and implementation. He worked as an environmental consultant with R.W. Beck, assisting municipalities and large utilities to develop cost effective solutions to meet power supply and generation issues as well as regulatory requirements for air and water quality. Prior to that, Tymon worked for the Regional Air Quality Council, a Denver metro area non-profit, working closely with industry and government officials on inventories, forecasts and the implementation of mitigation programs to meet federal air quality compliance requirements for CO, PM-10 and ozone.

James (Jim) Sullivan brings over 16 years of experience to his role as Vice President of Advisory Services at Clear Standards, where he works directly with clients, partners, and analysts to drive the benefits of technology to better manage carbon across business operations. Mr. Sullivan is the former Director of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Climate Leaders, a program that partners with over 200 businesses whose revenues represent 10% of the U.S. GDP, to develop comprehensive carbon management strategies.
