Travis Bradford

Founder, President, and Director, Prometheus Institute for Sustainable Development

Travis founded the Prometheus Institute in 2003 as a means to connect the vast reach and power of industrial and capital markets with the technologies necessary to sustain and develop long-term economic well-being for people around the world. Travis is currently the Editor-in-Chief of PVNews, the solar energy industry's oldest newsletter, and is the author of Solar Revolution: The Economic Transformation of the Global Energy Industry published by MIT Press. He is also a partner at Atlas Capital, a hedge fund based in Cambridge, MA.

Jeff Osborne joined Thomas Weisel Partners in July of 2007 as a Managing Director and is responsible for our coverage of the Alternative Energy industry. Jeff brings 10 years of experience in the financial services industry, including four years of sell-side experience at CIBC World Markets, five years on the buyside at Munder Capital Management and Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. Jeff holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, and a Master of Business Administration from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.

Nolan Browne

Director of Business Development for Energy Sectors, Fraunhofer USA

Managing Director, MIT Fraunhofer Center for Sustainable Energy Systems

Nol is a business developer for Fraunhofer USA where he is founding the MIT Fraunhofer Center for Sustainable Energy Systems at MIT for which he has recently been tapped to become the Managing Director. (Solar, Building Efficiency, Prototyping Lab) Prior to this he worked for Evergreen Solar where he developed the strategic relationships necessary to meet ESLR's planned capacity expansion. In addition to his responsibilities at Evergreen, Nol served as a senior associate at Cambridge Energy Research Associates where he started up CERA's Clean Energy Study. As a graduate student he founded the MIT Energy Conference to bring together technologists, policymakers and financiers to discuss solutions to meet our increasing global energy needs and was involved with a number of MIT energy startups including GreenFuel Technologies. During school, Nol worked as a summer associate at McKinsey & Co. As an entrepreneur, Nol has founded two successful for-profit companies to date. He began his career in Japan, founding an import/export operation in Kumamoto, and has also worked in the UK and the United States. He graduated with both an MA and BA in International Economics from Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Philip Giudice

Commissioner, Massachusetts Division of Energy Resources

Appointed Commissioner of Massachusetts Division of Energy Resources, July 2007, Commissioner Giudice brings a diverse and expansive experience to the position. He is a geologist (B.S. from University of New Hampshire and M.S. in Economic Geology from the University of Arizona) and management professional (M.B.A. from Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth) with 30 years experience in the energy industry. Commissioner Giudice serves as board member, board executive committee member and treasurer of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative as well as a board member of the Commonwealth's Energy Facilities Siting Board. Prior to joining DOER, Commissioner Giudice served as Senior Vice President at EnerNOC, a start-up company providing electricity demand-management services to businesses, institutions, utilities, and grid operators to obtain savings for businesses and institutions and relieve stress on the electric system. The Commissioner was also a Senior Partner, and leader of Mercer Management Consulting's global energy utilities practice. Commissioner Giudice is also active in the nonprofit realm. He is board chair of the Center for Effective Philanthropy and serves on the President's Council of ACCION. Previously, he served full terms on the board of City Year Boston, First Parish Church of Wayland (Unitarian Universalist), Haitian Health Foundation, and was the founding chair of Boston Cares.

Jeff Andrews joined Atlas Ventures in 2001 and is a Partner in the technology group. He invests in hardware and software companies serving large and growing markets in such as energy, mobile electronics and media. Jeff currently sits on the board of Atlas portfolio companies Gotuit, Lilliputian and Pixtronix, and also works closely with Miasole.

Rob Day

Principal, @Ventures

Rob Day joined @Ventures in 2007, and operates out of the firm's Boston-area office. He currently holds an observer seat on the board of directors of Powerit Holdings, Inc. Prior to joining the @Ventures team, Rob was an investor with Expansion Capital Partners for over two years, where he was an investment principal responsible for various aspects of that firm's clean technology venture capital activities, including investments in Tiger Optics, SensorTran, Orion Energy Systems, and World Energy Labs.

Jay Fiske

Partner, Massachusetts Green Energy Fund

Jay Fiske is a Partner at the Massachusetts Green Energy Fund with experience in product management, business development, and manufacturing operations. He leads the fund's investments in wind, energy storage, grid information technology, and renewable energy systems design.Before joining the fund, Mr. Fiske held several positions with Teradyne, Incorporated, a Boston-area manufacturer of semiconductor test equipment. Prior to this, Mr. Fiske was an Associate at the Center for Operations Technology of Coopers & Lybrand Consulting, where he designed and implemented lean manufacturing systems for clients across many industries, including all stages of semiconductor manufacturing, sheet metal fabrication, and industrial chemical production.

Founder & CEO, Green Volts

Bob Cart is an entrepreneur with 20 years of successful technology and product development experience. He co-founded database software developer Log Savvy Corporation as VP of Products. He was Senior VP of Product & Brand Management for 1st Financial Bank USA and President of its Netcard.com subsidiary. As VP of Engineering for Cybergold, he helped lead that company to its $174 million IPO. Bob was also the CEO and co-founder of WestWorld Media and GulfStream Communications and CEO of precision machine tool manufacturer, Industrial Cutting Die.

Stephen J. Eglash, Ph.D.

President & CEO, Cyrium Technologies

Steve is President and CEO of Cyrium Technologies, a solar energy startup company developing high-efficiency solar cells for concentrator photovoltaic applications. Steve joined Cyrium in 2007. Prior to joining Cyrium, Steve was a consultant and advisor to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and the U.S. Department of Energy where he led a solar energy strategic planning project. Before that, Steve was a venture capitalist at Worldview Technology Partners where he emphasized investments in semiconductors, displays, lighting, and energy. Steve was also Vice President at SDL (JDSU) where he managed efforts in telecommunications, printing, optical amplifiers, and industrial lasers. He began his career as a research scientist at MIT Lincoln Laboratory. Steve's experience includes general management, product marketing, and a technical background in materials, semiconductor devices, and fiber-optic components and subsystems. Steve is a frequent speaker at conferences such as the Photonics Market Opportunities Forum at SPIE's Photonics West. He was a speaker at the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy & Natural Resources Science and Technology Caucus. Steve is the two-time chairman of the OSA's Executive Forum at the Optical Fiber Conference. He is also involved in humanitarian projects such as the Tech Museum Awards for Technology Benefiting Humanity and the Global Social Benefit Incubator at Santa Clara University. Steve received a Ph.D. and M.S. from Stanford University and a B.S. from the University of California at Berkeley, all in Electrical Engineering.

Adam Lorenz

Founding Member, 1366 Technologies

Adam Lorenz is a founding member of 1366 Technologies, an MIT start-up aiming to bring multi-crystalline silicon solar cells to cost parity with coal-based electricity. Adam and his team are building a pilot facility in Lexington, MA to demonstrate innovations in silicon cell architecture and manufacturing process improvements that enable ~25% higher cell efficiency for the same cost as today's cells. Prior to joining 1366, Adam spent 3 years in the science and engineering group at a respected solar company, leading their silicon feedstock program and related process development. He began his career at MIT's Laboratory for Manufacturing and Productivity, where he developed and patented the Transient Liquid-phase Infiltration process and supporting material systems for improved performance of low cost, net shape metal parts made by 3D Printing. Adam has a PhD and MS from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a BS from Cornell University, all in Mechanical Engineering.

Frank Yang (Not Pictured)

Manager of Business Development, Stion

Frank Yang is Manager of Business Development at Stion, a venture-funded company which is developing high-efficiency, thin-film photovoltaics using new materials and device structures. Prior to joining Stion, Frank worked in Business Development roles at Nantero, the first company in the world to use carbon nanotubes in mass production semiconductor fabs, Pixtronix, a display company developing technology optimized for mobile multimedia devices, and ISTN, a nanotechnology R&D firm. He also worked as an Investment Banking Analyst at Lehman Brothers in the Global Communications and Media Group. Frank has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA in Economics from Amherst College.
