Panasonic Corp. will release a new circular fluorescent lamp dubbed "Palook Premiere LS" on June 1, 2009.
The Palook Premiere LS is Panasonic's first energy-efficient circular fluorescent lamp since 1979, when it released a power-saving lamp called "Palook."
"It has been said that lower power consumption of circular fluorescent lamps cannot be achieved because their sizes are specified by the Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS)," the company said. "But we succeeded in improving the energy efficiency for the first time in the last 30 years."
