Scott Clavenna

Scott Clavenna has been leading high-tech market research firms for over 15 years. In his capacity as a trusted analyst and consultant, Scott has helped dozens of companies enter and succeed in complex and intensely competitive markets worldwide. He also has authored more than 30 reports that helped define important emerging market segments in optical and broadband communications.

Prior to founding Greentech Media, Scott was chief analyst at Heavy Reading, the market research arm of Light Reading, the dominant online media company in the telecommunications market. CMP bought Light Reading in 2005. Before creating Heavy Reading, Scott founded PointEast Research, providing strategic consulting and market intelligence to a broad mix of startups, venture capitalists and major suppliers in the communications/IT industry, and worked as director of research for Light Reading. In 1997, Scott co-founded Pioneer Consulting, which quickly grew into the leading market research firm covering the optical and broadband communications industry.

Rick Thompson

Rick Thompson brings 14 years of industry experience from leading technology start-ups, incumbent networking and communications companies, and technology market research firms. Most recently, Rick was senior analyst at Heavy Reading, the market research arm of Light Reading, the dominant online media company in the telecommunications market. CMP bought Light Reading in 2005. Prior to Heavy Reading, Rick was a principal at PointEast Research, where he led market analysis and strategic consulting across a wide range of network communications market segments.

Rick previously served as the vice president of marketing at PanGo Networks, a wireless software company, and as director of product management and marketing at Sycamore Networks Inc. At Sycamore, he defined the product strategy and executed the launch of the industry's first intelligent optical switching platform. Under his leadership, Sycamore deployed several of the world's largest intelligent optical network infrastructures for global wired and wireless service providers. Prior to joining Sycamore, Rick held similar product management positions with Packet Engines, a pioneer of Gigabit Ethernet switching that was later acquired by Alcatel, and FORE Systems, a leader in ATM networking that was later acquired by Marconi and, subsequently, Ericsson. Mr. Thompson earned a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.

John Keough

John has extensive experience in building media businesses capitalizing on the internet as the primary conduit for information. He has been leading media organizations and sales teams for over 15 years. Most recently, he was a Vice President at CMP, where he was group director for Light Reading, the leading information source for the telecom market. While there, he managed a $20 million business portfolio consisting of numerous websites, live and online events, and research. Previously, John led Light Reading's sales and marketing efforts worldwide from start-up phase through to the eventual sale to CMP. Prior to 2000, John had other successes as a tech magazine publisher and as an advertising media and sales management professional in both consumer and business to business markets.

Before joining Greentech Media, Shyam was a Financial Analyst at Goldman Sachs Global Investment Research where he covered equities in the alternative energy sector, primarily solar companies. Prior to Goldman, Shyam was a Research Analyst at The Brattle Group, an economic consulting firm, where his work focused on problems within the electricity industry. Daniel Englander

Daniel Englander heads GTM Research's downstream markets practice. His expertise covers utility regulation and economics, renewable energy project development and project finance, and energy policy, with a specific emphasis on solar power. Daniel has experience in international investment due diligence and the financial and regulatory issues relating to renewable energy market entry.  Prior to joining GTM Research, Daniel worked at Mayer Brown LLC's Supreme Court and Appellate Practice Group in Washington, D.C. Daniel received his B.A. in International and Comparative Policy Studies from Reed College and his A.L.M. in Environmental Management from Harvard University. Daniel is also a participant in the U.S. Department of Energy's PV Expert Group.

Eric Wesoff

Prior to joining Greentech Media, Eric Wesoff founded Sage Marketing Partners in 2000 to provide sales and marketing-consulting services to venture-capital firms and their portfolio companies in the alternative energy and telecommunications sectors. Mr. Wesoff has become a well-known, respected authority and speaker in these fields. He also was the publisher of the Venture Power newsletter, a subscription-only newsletter covering venture-capital investment in renewable energy.

Eric's expertise covers solar power, fuel cells, biofuels and advanced batteries. His strengths are in market research and analysis, business development and due diligence for investors. He frequently consults for energy startups and Silicon Valley's premier venture capitalists.

From 1988 to 1996, Eric served as product marketing manager for Siemens Optoelectronics, where he oversaw complex product lines and managed relationships with global customers. He then became the U.S. marketing and sales manger for Akzo Nobel Photonics, which was acquired by JDS Uniphase. Eric later served as the sales director for Dicon Fiber Optics, where he was responsible for selling millions of dollars of fiber-optic telecom-equipment. He has consulted for Merck, JDSU, Coherent, IBM and scores of other firms, governments and organizations.

Shayle joined GTM Research upon returning from Australia, where he was a U.S. Fulbright Scholar with the Centre for Sustainable Energy Systems at the Australian National University. His Fulbright research, which focused on renewable energy financing and project development during the credit crisis, was published in the international journal Energy Policy.

Before moving to Australia, Shayle worked in the Clean Energy Markets division of Conservation Services Group, focusing on voluntary and compliance markets for renewable energy certificates and carbon offsets. Shayle also served as an author for Celsias.com, where he covered clean energy and carbon policy, and as an intern at the California Public Utilities Commission, where he helped craft statewide utility energy regulations. Prior to joining the company in 2008, he worked for CNET Network's News.com for eleven years. Among other jobs at CNET, he launched the company's push into clean technology. He has appeared on NPR, CBS, CNBC, Fox News and other media outlets and has spoken at CES, the Japan Business Strategy Summit, Ceatec, the Irish Software Association, Stanford, U.C. Berkeley, the Flash Memory Summit and Clean Energy Venture Summit. Ucilia Wang brings with her 10 years of journalism experience to Greentech Media. At Red Herring, she covered the semiconductor industry and reported on the industry's shift to green technology. At the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Ucilia produced three newsletters on computational research, networking and the National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center. Jeff St. John comes to Greentech Media from The Fresno Bee, where he covered solar-power, biofuel and biomass developments in California's Central Valley, and the Tri-City Herald in Kennewick, Wash., where his beat included nuclear power and nuclear-waste remediation, as well as the research and development of biofuels, fuel cells, energy-management systems and other energy technologies. He also has written for the Anchorage Daily News, UpsideToday.com, the San Francisco Chronicle and the San Francisco Bay Guardian, and he won a National Headliner Award in 2005. Jeff has a master's degree from the U.C. Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, and believes green technology will save the planet.

Meredyth Masterson joined Greentech Media in January of 2009. Prior to working with Greentech Media she managed an international multi-million dollar territory for the largest IT trade-show in North America – Interop, a property of United Business Media. During her tenure with UBM, she worked with companies such as Motorola, Intel, Amazon, F5, Riverbed and The Green Grid. As an account manager for these and other Fortune 500 companies, she was responsible for crafting custom solutions for complex marketing and lead generation plans that included both online and live event vehicles. Meredyth also has experience in the IT recruiting field and high-tech sales. Meredyth graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in English Literature from the University of Washington. She is a Bay Area native and currently resides in San Francisco.

Adrian H.B. Fopp comes to Greentech Media fresh from selling Munich-based BMG Brand Management GmbH, where he was founder and CEO, to a Private Equity investor. BMG holds the worldwide license rights of Feinkost Käfer, the premier German Delicatessen brand. Prior to BMG, Adrian was a serial entrepreneur who founded, operated and sold Internet and consumer goods companies. For six years, Adrian was in the Brand Management Department at Procter & Gamble, where he led various new product introductions and was responsible for the Euro-wide Pampers Diapers business. Adrian majored in Finance at the University of St. Gall in Switzerland and holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School.

She received a B.A. in Classics from Beloit College.

Clare Ondrey

Clare came to the offices of Greentech Media from Chicago. There she worked on asbestos litigation and assisted with on-site client assessments at Environ International Corporation. Most recently she was a member of the Business Development department at The Point, a startup Website. She brings marketing experience from her work with Venus Zine magazine and the non-profit, Charlottesville, Va.-based Advocates for a Sustainable Albemarle County. Clare graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.A. in Environmental Science, while there she also wrote for the Cavalier Daily.

Prior to his current role, Stephen was Co-Founder, President, and CEO of Light Reading, an online startup, which was sold to CMP Technology in 2005.
